Today I will tell you how to track visitor behavior in Google Analytics depending on the availability of the products they see. This is especially relevant for those online stores that have traffic to pages of products that are out of stock.

How do your store visitors behave when they see that the product is out of stock? You will understand this by looking at least at this report in Google Analytics:

This markup cannot be done using the “extract” function – the URLs or <title> content of product pages do not change depending on availability. Therefore, the GA code must be modified.

Step by step

  1. Go to “Content Groups” of the whatsapp taiwan required view in the Google Analytics settings;
  2. Add a new content group using the “+ CONTENT GROUP” button;
  3. Add the group name. In the “Group by tracking code” section, click “Enable tracking code”. “Done” and “Save”;
  4. On product pages in the Google Analytics counter code, depending on the presence, before the function for sending data to GA,

Now, knowing the statistics of visitor behavior, you can:

  • The second parameter in the code denotes the content group number specified in the previous step in the “Select number” field;
  • If you don’t know how to place the code or make conditions, ask your developer for help 🙂 ;
  • Check if the code is on any other pages of the site. It should only be on product pages.

That’s it. In a few hours, you’ll start collecting statistics on product availability in Google Analytics. To do this, you can select “Content Group” as the main SNBD Host parameter in some reports:

  • Draw conclusions about the traffic of such pages;
  • Conduct experiments to improve product pages depending on availability;
  • Get something from traffic that previously gave nothing.

Write your questions, suggestions, ideas and cases on working with content groups in online stores. Good luck!
